Gerard has represented Ipswich in more ways than one. Gerard has been a Solicitor since 1979, firstly in partnership with his father and in more recent years as a Director. While early on in his career he was a general practitioner providing advice and services in most legal areas, in recent times he has focused on the areas of Wills, Estates and Powers of Attorney, Conveyancing, Commercial and Property matters.

He is a Notary Public, an Associate member of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a Member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners. Gerard was also awarded 2017 Ipswich Businessman of the Year.

Gerard has extensive involvement in the Ipswich community through his association with Habitat for Humanity and Ipswich Hospice Care as well as many more organisations and has previously served Ipswich as a local Councillor.
